| Calendar Side Panel |
The Calendar side panel is now working properly apart from on the Home Page. Due to the way the software "builds" the Home Page, using the calendar navigation arrows or drop downs to move between months causes the News page to load instead of the Home Page. A new version of the software is due to be released shortly; whether it will resolve this particular irritant remains to be seen. |

Like a barren desert bursting into stunning flower following a once in a lifetime downpour of rain, the club's social noticeboard in the rotunda has recently been transformed into a blaze of colour. It's all thanks to Amanda, whose artistry when it comes to producing eye- catching flyers for forthcoming social events clearly knows no bounds. My vote for notice of the year (so far) goes to the garland-of-paper-flowers-decorated poster for Sea Week's Caribbean Party Night (Wednesday 13th August; complete with Steel Band). If the Party itself is going to be half as good as the poster, I'd advise getting your tickets now! Sea Week menus: Caribbean Night Italian Supper

| RB Offshore Powerboat Race 2008 |
RNSYC member Mike Barlow's determination received appropriate recognition at the Round Britain Offshore Powerboat Race 2008 prize-giving with the award of the Brand-Crombie Family Perpetual Trophy for Outstanding Effort. Competing in the "Historic" class in the Brooke Marine-built Ocean Pirate, the only boat in the fleet also to have competed in the first RBO Powerboat Race in 1969, Mike's race got off to the worst possible start at Portsmouth when the boat hit an underwater obstruction and suffered damage to her props. This necessitated driving the props to St Neot’s, Cambridgeshire for repair, after which Ocean Pirate set off for Plymouth and the next stage of the race, eventually getting back on schedule several stages later on arrival in Oban. The story of Ocean Pirate’s preparations, and details of the race itself, can be found at:

| RNSYC on the Weather Underground |
Data from the RNSYC Weather Station can now be accessed on the Weather Underground, a world-wide network incorporating private stations like ours as well as METAR stations (such as Norwich Airport), and others. IENGLAND172 (our station name on the network) currently updates every 30 minutes. As well as current conditions, the site displays historic data, so as the record builds up it will be possible to refer back to previous days, weeks, months and years. To access IENGLAND172 follow the link below (not forgetting to bookmark the address or add it to your Favourites).

Fresh from winning the 2007 Formula 4-stroke Powerboat title in the 150 hp class, RNSYC member David Cowley Jr recently made a guest appearance representing the UK in a similar event in New Zealand. | Orient Express Extra Spring 2008 |
Read the latest -- Spring -- edition of the Orient Express Extra here online. As well as communications from the Commodore, Treasurer and Vice Commodore (wearing his Training Committee hat), there's a load of information about the season ahead, both on the water and ashore, and some timely reminders about subscriptions, lifejackets (who, by the way, is the under-12 pictured, I mean the one on the left?) and stiletto heels (in the clubhouse that is, not on board .....). |
