Anyone familiar with Charles Dixon's two absolutely lovely watercolours of Lowestoft harbour and yacht basin, dated 1913 and 1903 respectively, may like to know that a new biography of the artist has just been published by Halstar, ISBN 978 1 906690 15 1. Written by Stuart Boyd, the 144 page, illustrated hardback entitled "Charles Dixon and the Golden Age of Marine Painting" is priced at £29.99. Can't tell you much more - my copy hasn't arrived yet!

I don't seem to be able to post photo attachments on this forum (and I'm certainly not doing smileys this close to Christmas) but they're on pages 234 & 235 of the club history (what do you mean you haven't got a copy?) but unfortunately in a black & white section - which considerably undersells their lovely, subtle tan colours.

Dixon lived at Itchenor and was a friend of both Sir Thomas Lipton and Howard Hollingsworth. Decent Christmas present for anyone who already has a club history. Cool Yule, Jamie

The option to post forum attachments is indeed turned off for security reasons. However, if you have digital photos Jamie, and would care to email them to either myself or Lyn Cowley, they can be added to one of the Club albums in the Photo Gallery.

Jamie's photos of the Dixon watercolours have been posted in a new Club Album on the Photo Gallery. The theme of the new album is "our club, our harbour and our boats as artists have seen them", so if anyone out there has photos of drawings, paintings etc. which fit the bill, please get in touch.

I love "The entrance to Lowestoft" photo of the watercolour, in the photo gallery (Club galleries/Art & Craft album).
