Thanks, Roger. Do you get that below decks and also at low water?
Edit: Also B7, good signal {4 bars}, below decks, wireless card only (i.e. no external antenna). No other signal registered.

Hi Peter, Looks like it's working very well now.. The signal strength is excellent, I get a full 5 bars bellow deck at both high & low tide. The signal has never dropped bellow 5 bars since I started monitoring it.. My laptop uses a built in antenna..
It’s obviously working extremely well because I still had a full 5 bars when I was in Southwold. “Sorry only joking!..
When are you going to connect the antenna to the internet?. Well done Peter. Regards, Stuart Yacht Moonlight Shadow |

Thanks Stuart. Did promise I would aim the directional antenna at your saloon table! My cockpit is on the same bearing ......
Re. broadband connection: I intend to set it up middle of next week. Didn't want to leave people without over the weekend if things went badly wrong. Will email you in advance to let you know when "default" will be offline.

Thank you Peter. The signal is good. However the LAN is far from stable, which I am working on; and people report big variations in speed, which is puzzling. I am sure once I get it configured as it should be it will perform well.
Meanwhile, my apologies to all users for the current instability. If the LAN goes down it can usually be restored by rebooting the modem/router in the club office. |

Oops! Nothing's so bad that trying to fix it can't make it worse! We're back temporarily on "default", which seems to be its old reliable self despite the weaker signal. Not sure at the moment quite when I'll have "RNSYC" back up and running -- watch this space, as they say.

Update (11 July): new WAP should be back in operation in a couple of weeks. Running fast and stable here in Norwich! |

Delighted the WiFi is working well ... unfortunately it also seems to stop Windows booting up on my laptop - a touch embarrassing when you hope to make a Powerpoint presentation to around 80 Dutchmen. Confident it's the WiFi which is causing this - if I turn off the WiFi switch on the side of the laptop, it'll boot up just fine. I know this now ... but there seems to be something strange ... |

Strange indeed Jamie. As far as I know, nobody else has reported a similar problem. Try disabling your wireless adapter and then enabling it again. It is also possible your Windows installation has become corrupted. Try restoring Windows to an earlier Restore point and see if that cures it.
