Do you know which ensign is the senior one?

I just happened to be wandering through the Club Sun Lounge some while ago when I was approached by another member, Stuart from Moonlight Shadow, with a question about the seniority of ensigns worn by vessels in this country. He was certain that he had read or heard somewhere that the red ensign was in fact the most senior, and did I know anything about this. La Mondiale

Letter from David Schonhut
18 January 2008

As I write the rowing team on La Mondiale are 43 mile from their finish in Port St Charles Barbados. The boat's ETA is 2000hrs GMT/1600hrs local time the 17 January and I’m sure the first beers will be a welcome and well deserved thirst quencher.
This has been a fantastic achievement for La Mondiale and her crew of 14 rowers. The boat is certain to break the world record she set in 1992 of 35 days 8 hours 30 minutes by approximately 2 ½ days. Prior to being shipped to the Canaries La Mondiale spent about 6 weeks at the Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club being fitted out and one of the team is a club member – Julian Barnwell.
Whilst Julian may not have yet confessed to being an adventurer........

Not much has changed!

Stormy Weather, Boys

From the Oxford Book of Sea Songs, (ed) Palmer.

Stormy Weather, Boys

We were laying in Surrey Dock one day.
The mate knew that it was time to get under way.

Chorus: Stormy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys,
When the wind blows our barge will go.
