Calendar Side Panel
Image of the RNSYC.NET Home PageThe Calendar side panel is now working properly apart from on the Home Page. Due to the way the software "builds" the Home Page, using the calendar navigation arrows or drop downs to move between months causes the News page to load instead of the Home Page. A new version of the software is due to be released shortly; whether it will resolve this particular irritant remains to be seen.

Social events -- further details
WebsiteFrom now on, further details of club social events can be accessed directly from the "Dates for Your Diary" panel, rather than via the Calendar of Events. In addition to making it easier to access the details, this also means we can enjoy to the full Amanda's colourful posters.
Events will still appear on the Calendar, but with only the briefest description.

Included in this issue is a report on a double triumph for East Anglian youngsters in this year's Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship, details of the new rules regarding the sale of red diesel from 1 November onwards, and an appeal to local sailors to join the campaign to keep Mistley Quay open to visiting boaters.

New web site for the RNSYC Marina
Image of the RNSYC.NET Home PageWe've now launched a small web site specifically about the RNSYC marina, with the intention of improving its "visibility" on the internet. The new site features basically the same information as appears on the marina pages of this site, but will hopefully soon develop a search engine identity of its own. As always, feedback and suggestions on how the new site -- www.rnsycmarina.com -- might be improved are welcome.

Unauthorised diving
AdminAll users of the marina are reminded that unauthorised diving of any sort is prohibited within the port area. A copy of the Port Authority's regulations governing diving within the port of Lowestoft can be inspected in the club office.

Win Win at the Lowestoft Honda F4S Meeting
Powerboat RacingDavid Cowley Jr driving Lings Racing's "Miss Tofts II", took line honours in the 225hp class at the Honda F4S powerboat meeting at Lowestoft on Sunday 28th July, and 2nd place overall for the weekend. His sister Mandy, navigating for Team Purple in the 150hp class, was also a race winner, taking first place in the Saturday race and finishing in 3rd place overall for the weekend. Congratulations to both; thing's are looking good as the second half of this year's F4S series gets under way.

Club noticeboard 12 July 2008Like a barren desert bursting into stunning flower following a once in a lifetime downpour of rain, the club's social noticeboard in the rotunda has recently been transformed into a blaze of colour. It's all thanks to Amanda, whose artistry when it comes to producing eye-Club noticeboard 12 July 2008catching flyers for forthcoming social events clearly knows no bounds. My vote for notice of the year (so far) goes to the garland of paper flowers-decorated poster for Sea Week's Caribbean Party Night (Wednesday 13th August; complete with Steel Band). If the Party itself is going to be half as good as the poster, I'd advise getting your tickets now!

It's changed!
New default theme for RNSYC.NETNo, not the CLUB, just this website! As you can see, RNSYC.NET has acquired a new look, with a new default theme replacing the old default, Milestone. Some of the alternative themes for customising the look of the site (via Edit Profile) have also disappeared, specifically Aztec, Fusion6, Prime, Showcase and Simplicity.
If you have visited the web site forum recently you will already know that much of the information on www.rnsyc.org.uk, our other web site, is now available here on RNSYC.NET -- see the section "About the Club and Club Marina" in the Navigation Panel on the left.
As always, feedback is welcome, so if when the changes are fully implemented you are moved to comment, please email or private message me, or put a post on the forum.
Note: If you use Firefox rather than IE, you'll see there is still some tweaking to be done, particularly in the case of pages in "About the Club & Club Marina".
